Description

In normal IP forwarding, routers analyze the destination IP of every packet as it travels from the source to the destination. This type of forwarding is difficult to control and is inefficient as a hop-by-hop layer 3 lookup is required for each packet. MPLS was developed to address some limitations of normal IP forwarding. It provides solutions such as Traffic Engineering, Layer 2 VPNs and Layer 3 VPNs which are widely used in today’s Service Provider networks.

This face-to-face technical workshop is open to NREN engineers who are now or soon will be building and operating an MPLS enabled national REN.
