Description
As part of The Networks for European, American, and African Research (NEAAR) collaboration, the International Networks@Indiana University (IN@IU) team has been working closely with the Ubuntunet Alliance to deploy perfSONAR nodes, to facilitate perfSONAR mesh development, and to train REN engineers how to use perfSONAR to monitor the networks they operate. The IN@IU team is also gathering flow data for the NEAAR 100G transatlantic circuit to help better understand the size, scope, frequency, and routing of data being sent and received on the circuit. Together, these efforts provide valuable information on data transfers for research collaborations working in Southern and Eastern Africa and help the NEAAR partners target their user engagement efforts to where they are needed most. This presentation will provide an update on current and future pS deployments within the Ubuntunet Alliance and look at the benefits these deployments provide for local, regional, and international REN operators. The talk will then present the results of our flow data analysis and routing research and explore how we can use this information to improve our user engagement efforts and enhance the science collaborations our organizations support.
