This webinar is part of the ongoing NREN Development Study being carried out by UbuntuNet Alliance, RENATER (the French NREN), IRD (Institut de recherche pour le développement) and CIRAD (Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement), with support from AFD (Agence française de développement).
AFD funds, supports and accelerates the transition to a fairer and more sustainable world as a contribution of France and French people to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).. The group has more than 4000 projects in 115 countries focusing on climate, biodiversity, peace, education, urban development, health and governance.
The webinar will discuss the preliminary findings of the survey launched in December 2021 and review the NREN Maturity Matrix. The matrix looks at five areas of an NREN, namely: governance, business model, technical services, services for users and human resources. The output of the workshop will be used to map NRENs based on where they are in terms of the 5 areas. The project is part of AFD’s way of understanding African NRENs and may lay the foundation for potential future funding.
